Work Hard. Work SMART, Be Obedient

19 02 2015

This week was pretty great! The Lord has continued to bless us tremendously almost to the extent that I feel guilty for it. There are so many small things each and every day. Some days I literally feel like we have a third companion walking around with us. We get blessed and I just look up and thank God for having my back.

We had our Multi-Zone meeting this past week and most of it was a review from MLC. So we had learned it all before but I still enjoyed it. Elder Child and I really wanted to take the principals that we were being trained on and apply them to our missionary work. Even if you don’t agree with some of them, the Lord will bless you for doing the things that his chosen leaders have asked you to do. It is so easy to get pumped up while you are at the meeting and then sink back into your regular routine once you get back to your area. But we were determined not to do that! We applied the principals and saw lots of blessings for doing so!

We went on splits a couple times this week and had some great experiences. Splits are awesome because you get so much more work done and it builds relationships with the ward members. It really gets them excited and fired up about missionary work. When I was on splits this past Thursday, I had two very interesting lessons…The first one was super awesome…we put this guy named Jarom on date. He has come to church the past 3 weeks now. He has been trying to fly under our radar but we finally snagged him 2 Sundays ago and set up a lesson. Apparently he was hesitant about meeting with the missionaries in the past but he was down this time! Blessings! But anyway…we had a super spiritual lesson with him and he is going to be baptized on March 1st!

Then we had another appointment with this less actives and her friend. Her friend was…interesting. My split was the 2nd counselor in the bishopric but he totally ditched me… He was on the other side of the room while I tried to deal with these two daughters of God. The friend, Allie, said that she was interested in learned more about the Mormon Church. Let’s just say that I’ve had better lessons. In the 30 mins that I was there, they tried to get me to go on a walk with them to get ice cream, she didn’t want to let go of my hand after I shook hers. She DEMANDED that we held hands during the prayer…super uncomfortable. Then she tried to take a picture of me at the end of the lesson. And her volume was on. So I pretended like I didn’t hear the snap…twice. But anyway…we will be passing them off to the YSA Elders because I was not down for that… haha.

Those experiences are super uncomfortable but they make each and every day interesting and unique, which I really appreciate. This past transfer I’ve really been trying to apply a principal theme of working hard, smart, and obedient. You can be the hardest working person in the world, but it’s really not going to do much for you if you aren’t working smart too. So as you really try to combine those three principals, everything becomes more effective. Obedience is a must. It brings so much power. Then when combined with the other two, nothing can stop you!

Anyway! I’m super tired so that’s all for this week! We had a HUGE cross fit activity with about 6 other Zones earlier today. I may or may not have started talking some smack to other zones about how no one could hold us in basketball. So we ended up having some pretty competitive and fun basketball afterwards and I’m pretty worn out! But we got the W’s so it was worth it!
Love you guys! I hope all of your weeks are great! I appreciate the love and support I get from you all! Thanks for your valentines gifts and packages! Have a great week!
