The Power of FASTING

21 05 2015

D&C 82:10 I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise.

D&C 120:20-21 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—
And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

The struggle was real last week. We worked so hard and nothing was happening. So we decided at the beginning of this week that something needed to be changed. If we tried to same thing over and over again we were going to get the same results over and over again. So we decided to have a fast. And BOOM! We went from 0 at church, 8 lessons with members, 10 referrals, 5 new investigators and 16 total lessons to 2 at church, 13 lessons with members, 19 referrals, 9 new investigators, and 27 total lessons. The Lord is bound when we obey. When we make sacrifices or fast for righteous blessings, He will always do His part!
Fasting can be really difficult sometimes. Especially on days that aren’t fast Sunday. But if you read through the scriptures and look at the best missionaries, you will always see that they had tons of prayers, fasting, and scripture study involved in the work.
We knew we would see blessing from the fast but we also knew that we had to do our part. We couldn’t just fast and kick it at the apartment all day and expect the blessings. We did everything in our power to find people to teach and baptize. We had splits every night. I was so exhausted that I’m pretty sure I was asleep before my head hit the pillow just about every night. But it was totally worth it.
We saw tons of miracles this week. We found this one new investigator named Sandy as we were trying to contact a referral that we were told wasn’t very solid. It was almost 9 and it’s about a 15 min drive home so we ALMOST turned in for the night. But we decided to be diligent and work until 9. And then we met a super humble, willing to learn, and awesome women named Sandy. The funny part about it is that we knocked on the wrong door when we were looking for the referral… But we found Sandy instead so it all worked out!
So overall this was a pretty good week. We ended it with a huge cross fit activity from President Mullen today. It was tons of fun because about half of the mission was there. It’s always really refreshing to get together with old friends.
That’s all for this week! Tons more happened but this is all I have time for! Hope you all have a great week!
